Wooden sectional doors: durability, performance and compliance with European standards

At Different Doors, we design wooden sectional doors that are not only visually distinctive, but also meet strict requirements in terms of safety, durability and energy efficiency.

In this article, we explain how our doors comply with European standards and what this means for performance in real-world conditions.

Water and air tightness: optimal protection

Our wooden sectional doors are tested according to the European standards EN 12425 for water tightness and EN 12426 for air tightness. This ensures reliable protection against weather conditions while contributing to energy efficiency through minimal air leakage.

Water tightness is tested by gradually increasing pressure until water penetration occurs. Our doors achieve Class 3 at a test pressure of 130 Pa, demonstrating strong performance under typical weather conditions.

Air tightness is tested at a constant pressure of 50 Pa. This measures the amount of air passing through the door per hour. Our doors achieve Class 4, meaning very low air leakage and improved insulation performance.

Door widthStandardClassTest pressure
Up to 6 metresEN 12425Class 3130 Pa
7 metresEN 12426Class 450 Pa

These results confirm that our doors perform exceptionally well in wet and windy conditions and contribute to a well insulated indoor environment.

Wind load resistance

Our doors are tested according to EN 12424, which measures resistance to wind load.

Up to 6 metresClass 5
7 metresClass 3

These results demonstrate that our doors are robust and capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions such as heavy storms.

Thermal performance is a key factor in building design. Our wooden sectional doors offer excellent insulation, expressed in the U value, which indicates heat loss through the door.

Thermal insulation: high energy efficiency

Steel or aluminium sandwich panels1.5 – 1.8

Thanks to this low U value, our doors help reduce energy consumption and contribute to lower operating costs.

Operational safety: tested and approved

Safety is essential for electrically operated doors. Our systems are tested according to EN 12453, ensuring that operating forces remain within safe limits.

This prevents hazardous situations such as trapping or uncontrolled movement.

In addition, our systems are equipped with obstacle detection. The door automatically stops when an obstacle is detected, ensuring safe operation for the user.

Mechanical strength and durability

Our wooden sectional doors are tested in accordance with EN 13241, which assesses mechanical strength and long term performance. This means our doors are designed to withstand repeated use and daily operation without compromising structural integrity.
