Set quietly along the street, this home features a closed façade that ensures privacy. The exterior is finished in Shou Sugi Ban wood. Within this façade, a pivot door has been seamlessly integrated as the front entrance. At first glance, the door remains almost invisible and only reveals itself as you move closer.
The pivot door and surrounding cladding are both executed in Shou Sugi Ban. This traditional Japanese charring technique gives the wood a deep, textured and almost sculptural appearance. Every plank is unique, adding character and depth to the overall design. Measuring 1.8 metres wide and 2.75 metres high, the door makes a bold architectural statement. Despite its generous proportions, it rotates effortlessly around its vertical axis thanks to the pivot system of FritsJurgens.

The pivot door is finished in Shou Sugi Ban, the same Japanese charred wood as the walls on either side. The wood has a deep, almost black colour and a tangible, irregular texture.
